How it worksVerification · Awards · Reviews

Three processes, one rule: people decide.

Verifications, awards and review moderation are all handled manually by MeritVeri, following methods we publish. Software keeps the records; a person makes every decision.

Diagram: the verification, award and review processes each end in a decision made by a person.

01Three journeys

Whoever you are, the route is written down.

Choose who you are. Each route shows what you do, what MeritVeri does, and what becomes public.

  1. 01

    Search

By company name, enterprise number or VAT number. No account needed.

  2. 02

    Open the profile

Each fact has its own mark. Anything without a verified mark was not independently checked.

  3. 03

    Check the record

Reference, dates and the current status — worked out every time the page is shown.

  4. 04

    Read reviews

Only moderated reviews appear, with labels that say exactly what was checked.

  5. 05

    Report

Anyone can report a review or response. A report never removes content automatically.

02Verification

The life of a verification, every state shown truthfully.

A verification confirms specific facts about a company at a specific moment. It says what was checked, when, and until when it is valid. Select a state to see who acts and what visitors see.

02MeritVeri checks

Who actsMeritVeri

Every fact is compared with official public sources — the CBE in Belgium, the KvK in the Netherlands, the RCS in Luxembourg — and with the documents provided. The source of each fact is recorded internally.

  1. 01

    Application

Who actsA representative with a verified MeritVeri account

Submits the company details — registration number, country, website, contact person — and supporting documents. Documents stay private and are only used for the check.

Visitors seeNothing yet. Applications are never public.

  2. 02

    MeritVeri checks

    Who actsMeritVeri

Every fact is compared with official public sources — the CBE in Belgium, the KvK in the Netherlands, the RCS in Luxembourg — and with the documents provided. The source of each fact is recorded internally.

  3. 02b

    More information

Who actsMeritVeri asks; the applicant replies

If something is missing or unclear, we ask in the application thread. The applicant replies and adds documents there, and the check continues.

    Visitors seeNothing yet.

  4. 03

    A person decides

Who actsA person — never software alone

The application is approved or refused, and the reason is recorded. When approved, each checked fact is marked as verified, one by one.

Visitors seeNothing until the record is issued.

  5. —

    Refused

Who actsMeritVeri, with a written reason

The company is not verified. The annual administration fee pays for the work, not the outcome: a refusal is never reversed by payment. You can apply again once the issue is resolved.

    Visitors seeNo verified marks.

  6. 04

    Verified

    Who actsMeritVeri issues the record

The company receives a reference such as VRF-BE-2026-000123, a public record page, a live badge and a printable certificate. Valid for 12 months.

    Visitors seeVerified

  7. 4a

    Renewal

Who actsThe company applies again; MeritVeri re-checks

Reminders go out 60, 30 and 7 days before expiry. A renewal before expiry continues from the end of the current period. The new cycle has its own reference; earlier cycles stay in the history.

    Visitors seeVerified

  8. 4b

    Expired

Who actsNobody — it is calculated

The validity period has ended. Expiry is worked out every time the record is shown, so an expired verification never appears as valid, not even for a minute.

    Visitors seeExpired

  9. 4c

    Suspended

    Who actsMeritVeri

Temporarily not valid, for example while we investigate new information. It can return to Verified after the investigation.

    Visitors seeSuspended

  10. 4d

    Revoked

Who actsMeritVeri, with a recorded reason

Withdrawn permanently. The record stays online and shows the verification as revoked; the badge and certificate say so too.

    Visitors seeRevoked

03Awards

Ten places. None of them for sale.

Awards are organised in award types, such as Best Employer, and editions for a year, country, region or industry. Each edition ranks at most 10 companies.

How an award is organised · example
  1. Award typeBest EmployerOwn description and published methodology
  2. EditionBelgium · 2026 · TechnologyOne year, and where relevant a country, region or industry
  3. PlacementRank 1 · AWD-BE-2026-000435One company, one rank, its own record
  1. Up to 10 ranked companiesA rank belongs to one company, and a company appears only once per edition.
  2. Published methodologyEvery award type publishes its criteria and sources. MeritVeri prepares the ranking manually; draft editions are not public.
  3. A record for every placementEach placement gets its own reference, record page, badge and certificate.
  4. A result in timeAn award reflects a result at a moment. It is not proof of a current verification, and a revoked placement is clearly shown as revoked.
  5. Never for saleNo company can pay for a placement, a better rank, or the removal of a competitor. The verification fee buys no advantage in any ranking.

04Reviews and moderation

Every review read before anyone else reads it.

Reviews help visitors, but only if they are genuine. That is why every review is moderated before publication, and only approved reviews count in ratings.

01

Write

A registered reviewer chooses their relationship with the company and declares no conflict of interest and no payment.

02

Moderate

MeritVeri checks the review against the public review policy.

  • Approve
  • Ask for more information
  • Refuse, with a reason
03

Respond and report

The company can publish one official response. Anyone can report a review or response; a report never removes content automatically.

What the labels mean

Email verifiedlabel · account check
The reviewer's account has a confirmed email address. It says nothing about the relationship with the company.
Employment verifiedlabel · relationship check
MeritVeri has manually checked the relationship stated by the reviewer — here, employment. The same applies to customers and suppliers. Shown only after that manual check.
