Draft — pending owner approval

This text is a draft. It has not yet been approved and may change before MeritVeri launches. Passages marked New in draft 3 reflect decisions taken on 5 October 2026.

These terms of use apply to everyone who uses MeritVeri: visitors, reviewers, companies and their representatives. By creating an account you accept them.

The service

MeritVeri is operated by the operator named in the legal notice. It offers a directory of companies in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, manual verifications, award rankings, moderated reviews and tools for companies to manage their listing. Verification, award and moderation decisions are made manually according to our published verification methodology, award methodology and review policy.

Your account

  • Provide accurate information and keep your email address up to date.
  • An account is personal. Keep your password secret and tell us if you suspect misuse.
  • You may only act on behalf of a company if you are authorised to do so. We check claims and applications before granting access.
  • We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, for example in case of fake reviews, abuse or attempts to mislead. We tell you the reason.

Content you publish

When you publish a review, a company response or other content, you remain responsible for it and you confirm that:

  • it describes your own, genuine experience and complies with the review policy;
  • you have no conflict of interest and were not paid or rewarded for it;
  • it does not contain illegal content, personal information about others, or content that infringes the rights of third parties.

You allow us to publish, display and store your content on MeritVeri for as long as it is online. You can edit or delete your reviews at any time.

Moderation rules

We moderate content before and after publication to keep the platform reliable:

  • every review is checked before publication and can be approved, rejected, hidden or returned with a request for more information;
  • company responses can be hidden if they break these terms;
  • accounts can be suspended in case of serious or repeated breaches;
  • a report never removes content automatically: every decision is taken by a person.

We never remove, hide or reorder reviews at the request of a company because they are negative.

Reporting content (notice and action)

Anyone can report a review or a company response with the Report button, with or without an account. If you report content that you consider illegal, please explain why and confirm that your report is accurate and made in good faith. We assess every report diligently and inform the reporter of our decision.

Companies and individuals can also ask us to correct or remove a company listing through the contact page.

Statement of reasons

When we reject, hide or remove content, or restrict an account, we inform the person concerned by email. The message states the decision, the facts and the rule on which it is based, and how to contest it.

Contesting a decision

You can contest any moderation decision free of charge by replying to the email in which we informed you, or by writing to hello@skengineer.be. We review the decision and tell you the result. This does not affect your right to go to court or to use other remedies available under the law.

Verifications, awards and badges

Verification records, award records, badges and certificates may only be used as provided by MeritVeri. They may not be altered or shown in a way that suggests a different status, scope or date. A badge must link to its record page. A verification confirms the facts listed on the record at the date of verification; it is not a recommendation or a guarantee.

New in draft 3

Claiming a company is free. Claiming a listing gives a confirmed representative access to the company's profile; it is separate from verification.

Verification is subject to an annual administration fee of €3,000 excluding VAT for each verification cycle of 12 months. It covers the work of the checks; a renewal is a new cycle with a new fee. It pays for the work, not the outcome: a company that does not pass the checks is not verified, and payment never influences a verification outcome. Award placements and rankings can never be bought.

By submitting an application, the representative accepts these terms on behalf of the company and confirms that they are authorised to do so.

  • Invoice: MeritVeri invoices the company when it starts the checks of an application. There is no payment step on the website. VAT is charged according to the applicable rules.
  • Payment term: 30 days from the invoice date, unless the invoice states a longer term.
  • Late payment: as provided by the Belgian Act of 2 August 2002 on combating late payment in commercial transactions, an amount not paid on time bears interest at the rate set by that Act from the day after the due date, without prior notice, and a fixed compensation of €40 for recovery costs is due, without prejudice to higher reasonable recovery costs that we can prove.
  • No influence on the outcome: while an invoice is overdue, we may postpone a new application or renewal of the same company. An issued verification is never suspended or revoked because of a payment; its status depends only on the checks.
  • No refund when the checks are not passed: the fee covers the work done. You can apply again once the issue is resolved.
  • Withdrawal before the checks: an application withdrawn before the checks have started is not invoiced.

Availability and liability

We make every effort to keep the information on MeritVeri accurate and the service available, but we cannot guarantee that it is always complete, error-free or uninterrupted.

New in draft 3

A verification confirms that the listed facts matched our checks on the date of verification. We do not guarantee a company's future conduct, solvency or services, and we are not liable for decisions that others take on the basis of a profile, a record, a review or an award. Reviews express the opinion of their authors.

Towards companies, our total liability in connection with a verification is limited to the administration fee paid for that verification, and we are not liable for indirect damage such as loss of profit, turnover, business or reputation.

These limitations do not apply in case of intentional fault, fraud or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or where the law does not allow them, and they do not affect the rights that consumers have under mandatory law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we ask signed-in users to accept the new version before they continue to use their account.

Applicable law

New in draft 3

These terms and the use of MeritVeri are governed by Belgian law. Disputes with companies fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the judicial district of the operator's registered office (see the legal notice). Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence and may also bring proceedings before the courts of their place of residence. For moderation decisions, you may also turn to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the Digital Services Act.
